What We Do
The Houweling Hothouse Group is a family owned company that operates 70.2 hectares high tech hydroponic greenhouses in Oxnard, California and Delta, British Columbia. We are a leading producer of fresh, nutritious hydroponically grown greenhouse products, and propagation starter plants in North America.
We produce a broad range of hydroponically grown tomatoes, and cucumbers that are available at leading retailers across the United States and Canada. The Houweling's brand is trusted and respected in the marketplace for representing the highest quality tomatoes and cucumbers available.
Houweling's high quality, premium brand is attributed to a number of factors. First, our facilities in Oxnard and Delta are located in unique microclimates that offer optimal sunshine, coupled with a temperate climate. This helps provide perfectly regulated growing conditions for the plants to thrive in without the interference of the outside elements. Our experienced grower team is focused on applying craftsman care to our plants through the most advanced growing practices and technologies in the industry. Everything we grow is hand-picked and processed through our own grading and packaging plant or directly at the greenhouse. Our grading standards exceed those of the industry, so we are always distributing the highest quality products. Post harvest chemicals or waxes are never used and our food safety standards have been set high, and audited continually. Our locations give us a logistical advantage being close to many key North American markets. This enables us to grow, pick, pack and ship
quality consistent products year round.
Our British Columbia Propagation division is dedicated to providing high quality starter plants to greenhouse operations throughout the US and Canada. The Delta facility includes sophisticated manufacturing protocols and systems, "ebb and flood" irrigation, artificial lighting, pest management systems and other specialized equipment that ensures a high level of reliability. The division also undertakes ongoing research and development activities to develop proprietary growing and manufacturing methods.
