A Visit to Tactic

In early January, Casey’s daughter, Monica, along with Houweling’s team member Tara Tashiro, had the opportunity to visit Tactic, Guatemala, the site of Houweling’s Seeds of Tomorrow project. Their experience and the profound impact it had on them is shared below. Seeds of Tomorrow Project – Guatemala Greenhouse Update

At the same speed 2012 ended, the new year is flying by! From a business perspective, our locally grown tomatoes are in demand, as consumers continue to increase the value they put on local produce. While our tomato growing focus is local, thanks to some of our international partners, the Seeds of Tomorrow Project Guatemala Greenhouse is in production.

Changing the Cycle of Child Hunger in Tactic, Guatemala

Well, I guess this blog is the ceremonial first seedling of our Guatemala Project as I can announce we have formally commenced our fundraising efforts and dubbed the program the “Seeds of Tomorrow Project”. As of this morning the donation pages administered by Impact Ministries are up and you will be able to receive a government tax receipt for your generous donation (US Donations * / Canadian Donations *) and remember to select “Seeds of Tomorrow Project” in the drop down menu to ensure the funds are earmarked for this project.Read more

One Week in Guatemala – A Life Changing Impact

For those that don’t know me, I am a Canadian and in Canada we celebrate Thanksgiving in October instead of November like the USA. This thanksgiving has given us even more to be thankful for as we are making progress on a Guatemala school nutrition project. This past July I had a life changing experience in Guatemala. Below is a journal of the trip I wrote for our employee newsletter.
